Blessed are the poor in Heart

As I was studying the book of Matthew I came across this verse that stuck on my mind. Matthew 5: 3. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven both now and forever. This beatitudes are the great teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They speak volumes to us and keep as at bay in our christian walk.

Poor in the spirit are the persons rich in faith, those who seek God as the necessity of their lives. This scripture connotes of the people who put on humility as a garment , people who think less of themselves and more of God. Their hope is set on God.

They are the people devoid of arrogance, pride and vanities. When tested they do not lose their cool because they know whose sons and daughters they are, people who do not rely on their abilities but depend on God.

God’s blessings are on those who depend entirely on Him. Those who know that they require Him and yearn for Him daily. The Kingdom of heaven is for those who seek God diligently. They get filled, nourished and refreshed in His presence.

There is a thin line between the Kingdom of Heaven and the kingdom of the world. The Kingdom of Heaven is perfect -complete with love, joy and peace. Unlike the kingdom of the world which is full of distractions, stumbling blocks and temptations.

Do you remember when the devil took Jesus up on a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world? (Matthew 4:8) he asked Jesus to fall down and worship him, Jesus replied, It is written, “You shall worship the Lord Your God, and serve Him only”. NB: The world is crowded with deceit and superficial pleasures.

God blesses those who realize their need for Him. Giving Him the uttermost sovereignty in their careers, families, relationships, businesses and ministries.

The poor in spirit have full rights and privileges to the Kingdom of Heaven. They have been entitled to enjoy the blessings both now and forever; theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven, where there are abundant blessings, joy, peace, love, happiness, nothing is lacking or missing. They are blessed spiritually, physically, financially and prosperous in all they do.

God gives them the ability to dominate and rule over all the kingdoms under the heaven with power and greatness. People from all over respect them.

It is relevant that we examine ourselves; whom or what we necessarily seek after in our day to day life. Do we rely on our qualifications, talents or gifting? Self help is no help at all. To what gain is it to a man to get everything he wants but lose themselves?
