The year has been full of ups and downs and many times we wondered whether we would get through it. The uncertainties of life may have left many wondering whether God is still in control. But believe it or not in lack, debt, sickness, joblessness, tough economy God never left or forsook his children.
Remember in the storm while the disciples were sailing, the ship didn’t sink because he was in their midst. He subdued the storm. Challenges are trials to our faith, which is much precious than gold, that it may result in praise, glory and honor of our Lord Christ Jesus. Even now no matter the situation he is there with you and will calm the storm.
He that never sleeps nor slumbers is watching over his flock. So as the year ends you have a reason to praise him; he has sustained you, you are in good health, he has protected you, have hope for the future.
The Lord inhabits in the praises of his people, not in their murmuring and complains. He requires us to praise him; those who seek him praise him, rejoicing daily in his presence.
Praise means glorifying and acknowledging God for his great works; expressing gladness to the Lord Most high.
By understanding who God is, we are able to praise him. His name is excellent; his glory is above the earth and the heaven. His greatness is unsearchable; the glorious splendour of his majesty, his wonderful acts, his righteousness, awesome powerful works, abundant goodness, compassion, loving kindness and faithfulness. His mercies endure forever.
When we praise him, we are declaring of his goodness, hence testifying of his works. We have witnessed God’s salvation in our lives and families. For according to his righteousness, he has preserved us. He has delivered us from heathens that we may give thanks to him.
We were created to praise him. When you praise God, this means that you fear and reverence him.
Praise lifts up burdens.
In the atmosphere of praise, the Lord lifts up those who are downcast. He gives hope to the troubled. He gives us beauty for ashes and oil for mourning. We are the trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord that he might be glorified.
Praise strengthens us.
When praises goes up, God strengthens our inner man with might by the Holy Spirit. He upholds us with his right hand and strengthens the weak hands and feeble knees. By his power we are strengthened day by day for his purpose to be accomplished on earth.
Praise heals.
In the presence of the Lord healing takes place. As Jesus came from the mountain, a leper met with him glorifying and worshiping him, he desired to be clean and Jesus stretched forth his hand and cleansed him. Healing can take place when we glorify him.
Restores us.
The Shunamite woman was a woman who reverenced and praised God. When there was famine in the land, God spared her life and her household by sending his prophet Elisha who advised her to leave the land until that period was over. After seven years, God restored her. He gave her favour with the king who restored the land and the fruits of the field since she left. It does not matter what situation has hard-pressed you, when you praise him he turns around your captivity – as he did for the children of Israel.
What got Paul and Silas out of prison was praises. It opened doors for them and they were restored to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 16:25. At midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God… And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
Praise creates an atmosphere of miracles.
The bible says, he who offers praises, honor him and by this prepares the way for the Lord to show his salvation. Praise pleases the Lord to open the heavens and release his blessings and miracles upon us. In what area do you need God to perform his miracle? Do not murmur but continue praising him.
Praise pushes away the forces of darkness.
2 Chronicles 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab and mount seer which came against Judah and they were smitten. Do not engage in battles by your own strength instead be still and praise God. He will fight your battles. He grants those who praise him victory after victory.
Praise brings us rest.
God grants rest in the midst of a storm to those who praise him. They are calm because they know God will subdue the storms. He leads us besides still waters. He instructs us to be still and know that he is God.
By acknowledging God’s hand in your life you give him the glory. When we remember what he has done for us, we pour out our souls to him with the voice of joy praising him. It is by his grace that we are called children of God. Our praise draws men to him. They see his works and fear and trust in him. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that we should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9.
Let his praises fill our lips.
For the bible admonishes us to think of the things that are true, holy, just, pure, lovely and of good report. When we focus our minds on these we shall not be consumed with the issues of the world.
Praise releases a thanksgiving spirit and allows God to do more in your life. Let everything that has breathe praise the living God.
