Seeking God is inquiring of him. Searching to know and realize his ways. This occurs when our hearts are inclined to him.
The woman who had ten silver coins and lost one, swept the house clean searching carefully for the lost coin. She did not stop searching until she found it and was overjoyed when she recovered it. When we seek God with all our hearts and souls we will encounter him.
The bible says when you seek him you will find him. When you yearn for him, he reveals himself to you. When we look for him with a pure and upright heart he rouses himself on our behalf, and restores us. I do not know what you maybe seeking in life, but Jesus is the way and life. When we look for him with all our hearts and souls; He fills our hearts with gladness.
When we seek God, peace is inevitable, it is certain in Christ Jesus. We cease to be in charge of things as he takes care of our lives. He takes perfect control of everything.
When we seek God:-
He directs our paths.
He orders our steps. He guides us, our hearts and minds are aligned in accordance to his perfect will. We cannot be off course when we are true seekers of Christ Jesus. He will not allow us drift from his way. Psalm 32:8 I will instruct and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel and watch over you.
The Lord guided the Israelites with a pillar of cloud by the day and a pillar of fire at night to direct their course. He instructed them by his Spirit. His counsel guides us on our daily agendas. Even now the Lord instructs his children by his Spirit.
In 2Chronicles 20:3. King Jehoshapat was faced with a difficult situation and fear gripped him. The Ammonites and Moabites came to make war with him. But he set himself to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting. God instructed them on what to do and delivered them. God is greater than any circumstance we can ever face. He has gone ahead of us and therefore will guide us.
He protects us.
David was God’s chosen servant but King Saul threatened to kill him. He tried many occasions but God protected him. Even when in battle, the Lord fought for him. He fights battles you never knew even existed. When Balak wanted to fight Israel, he sent Balaam to curse them. But God wouldn’t listen to him instead he blessed them. The hand of the Lord is upon all who seek him. Christ vindicates them. He keeps us safe in his abode.
He enlightens us.
Psalm 19:8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The Lord enlightens those whose hearts seek after him to know him. Those whose hearts were blinded by the course of the world, when God’s light set in, they function in a clear understanding of God’s purpose. He reveals his intentions to them. His vision becomes clear and plain.
Let us look at the example of Paul the Apostle. He was blinded by the ways of the wicked but after he encountered God’s light, his course changed. He began to preach the gospel bringing the lost souls to Christ.
Because of Solomon’s great relation with God, he became so wise than any man that ever lived. People far and wide came to hear his wisdom. It is the Lord who teaches us all things giving us knowledge and understanding.
He strengthens us.
Those who seek the Lord do not grow weary instead their strength is renewed. He restores their souls. Those who wait on the Lord testifies of his goodness. Caleb waited on God’s promise to get hold of his inheritance. Even after that generation had passed, he was left standing strong in faith as he was when he was sent by God’s servant Moses to spy the land. He was able to acquire his portion of land and settled with his family.
Gideon was timid but God strengthened him to bring victory to the Israelites and overcame the Midianites. God strengthens us and cause those who seek him to shine like the sun.
He opens doors for us.
When you are a God seeker, no one can withhold you. He sends us his divine help. God was with Joseph even as a slave in Egypt. He opened great doors for him to become a governor in a foreign land. This led to the preservation of his family when there was famine in the land.
In Joshua 24:12. God drove away the inhabitants in the promised land. He went before them and settled them in lands and cities they did not build; he made them eat from vineyards and olive groves they did not plant.
He lifts us.
1Samuel 2:8 He raises the poor from dust and lifts the needy from the ashes; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honour.
Hannah was a woman with much sorrow until the Lord met with her and gave her a son, Samuel, who became a great prophet in Israel. Her story changed and she was honored.
Do you remember David’s story? He was a God seeker. Daily he sought the Lord even when he was a shepherd boy tending his father’s sheep in the fields. While there, he sought after God’s face and worshipped him. God promoted him from a shepherd to a King. He became a great king in Israel that brought victories and the fear of the Lord on the people. When you seek God promotion is inevitable.
There is supply.
Psalm 34:10b Those who seek the Lord shall not want.
Every good thing is provided for Christ’s seekers. God would not allow his own to suffer. He fulfills the desires of their hearts in accordance to his will. When we seek him, our desires are aligned to his perfect will for us and in that his purposes is accomplished.
When we seek the Lord, he satisfies us. In the wilderness, David learnt to seek the Lord and the Lord sustained him.
The bible says the meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord they that seek him.
There is an unendless supply to God’s true seekers. For every vision he gives us, there is provision from his bounty.
He grants us success.
When we start walking in the fulfillment of his purposes, He brings us success in all we do.
Those who seek the Lord prosper in their undertakings. For example, King Hezekiah sought the Lord wholeheartedly in his service and so prospered. Joshua was a successful leader who took after Moses and led the people to the promised land. He walked in fear of the Lord and God blessed him greatly.
Those who seek him receive blessings. Abraham was a true seeker and God prospered him in everything he did. Wherever he went kings honoured him. God is a rewarder of them that seeketh him diligently.
The Lord is found by only those who set their hearts and souls after him. When they seek him, he hears and responds. He instructs them on the paths of life. Those who forsake him, he cast them off. There can only be two ways in any situation; God’s way or the canality. We commit evil when our hearts are purposed not to seek the Lord. But when our hearts are set on seeking the Lord, his goodness, kindness, joy, favor, peace and blessings follow us. Therefore let us fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness.
